Today’s Wanderlust Wednesday’s post is coming to you on Friday due to the lovely Thanksgiving holiday we just had. I hope that everyone had a lovely time with their friends and family. Ready to be inspired to work off that big meal? The trek to the top of Yosemite’s Vernal Falls was no joke. It was short but mostly vertical. As you saw last week the first trail that we hit in Yosemite was the Mist Trail. That cool mist & majestic waterfall were such a blessing in Yosemite’s warm valley. After soaking in the waterfall we tackled the next set up trails up to the top of Yosemite’s Vernal Falls.
Looking back over the valley to see where we’d come from was both awe inspiring and overwhelming. It’s so nice to get out of the city to see such natural beauty sometimes.
When you make it up the stairs, you get the opportunity to peek over the edge of Vernal Falls.
We were happy to have made it!
It was so warm that my brother decided to go for a swim in the lake at the top of the waterfall. I was too chicken to jump in so I settled for lounging on the rocks & just dipping my feet into the icy water.
Our hard work up the stairs was rewards with the sight of a beautiful rainbow! It made every achy muscle worth it!
The road back down was nice but quite slippery. The rocks have seen a lot of traffic over the years and have been somewhat worn down. A few of us slipped our way down the mountain but luckily lived to tell the tale!
Trekking back along the Mist Trail to return to the Valley Floor was quite crowded. I can’t emphasize enough hitting the trails early. The path up the trail as we were heading down looked like the lines in Target during December! Luckily this was our view so we didn’t mind the slow pace!
