For my final Wanderlust Wednesday post about Yosemite, I’m sharing our favorite view point in the whole park. It’s called Glacier Point. I read that there is a very steep hike up to Glacier Point but you have to leave by a certain time because you aren’t allowed to be on the trail at low viability. We opted for the windy drive up the mountain, making it just in time for the breathtaking blue hour! I cannot emphasize how happy I was that we made it for this magical time of the day. At any time of the day this will be one of the most beautiful places in the world, but with the light hitting the rocks and the hazy evening sky, I just felt like I was on another planet. You can see clear across the valley floor to Yosemite Falls & the iconic Half Dome.
On the drive up, make sure you allow time to stop at Tunnel View. It’s worth the stop. This is the view from Tunnel View. We had to stop here because this is the exact place where my Dad stopped with his family when they visited years ago. Its a quick pull off the road right before you enter the tunnel on your way up to Glacier Point. It’s stunning!
A peak at Yosemite Falls from above!
You can start to see the lights come on in the homes on the valley floor.
Glacier Point was the most beautiful point in Yosemite. The views were simply breathtaking. I loved our hikes and Vernal Falls & the Mist Trail were so much fun to hike, but when I think of Yosemite, I will always think of this view point right here.
