The San Francisco Bay Area is a simply stunning place to live. There are definitely pros & cons (housing prices & traffic) to living here, but being surrounded by so much rugged, natural beauty is so inspiring. Running is not my favorite thing, but I like eating cake so running it is! If I can struggle into my Nike’s & out the door, this is my running path. I never regret hitting the pavement when my view looks like this & cool breezes blow in off of the water. It’s equally as beautiful We love living right on the Bay Trail. It has really become a piece of home.
The fog that you see here is sitting right on top of San Francisco. On clear days we can see the Hunter’s Point, the Bay Bridge, & the outline of the Mandarin Oriental building. I love the view, but I’m also always grateful to be sitting just outside of that wall of fog!
The Bay Trail is home to many restoration projects, attempting to restore marshland and wildlife in the area. There are many lookout points around the trail so that you can watch for wildlife.
The San Francisco Bay Trail currently covers over 350 miles around the bay for walking & cycling. The plan is to fully connect all trails so that it covers all nine Bay Area counties, 47 cities, and crosses 7 toll bridges. It’s an ambitious project & one that I am so proud to see in my hometown. Weekdays, the path is jam packed full of intense cyclists biking up and down the peninsula to get to their tech jobs. Weekends find the trail full of joggers and people dragging their windsurfing gear to the water. Check out this map to see all of the places that the Bay Trail can take you!
