I am a tiki bar fanatic. I think I even mentioned that in my About Me section! I love to duck into a little divey tiki bar where ever we go to get a feel for the Caribbean. Some of those spots have been winners (Smuggler’s Cove), some of those have been disappointing. One spot that all tiki lovers should check out is in Alameda. That’s right across the bay from San Francisco. It is the home of the original Mai Tai… You know that drink that is now served world wide? It debuted here at Trader Vic’s!
Trader Vic’s sits right on the water & is loaded with Caribbean charm.
The bartenders take their time & put a lot of thought into these drinks.
I ordered my trio of Mai Tai’s before being lured to explore the rest of the restaurant.
Yes, that’s right. It’s a Mai Tai trio! This way you don’t have to chose which one you want to try…you can have one of each! This includes the Guava, Maui, Mango. For those who just fall in love with this, you can buy the surfboard serving board to take home & recreate the experience. After 3 Mai Tai’s, I always think that’s a good idea!
Special event rooms tucked away around ever corner make the most out of the incredible views!
I could sense that food was ready so I scurried back to my table just in time to enjoy our avocado ahi poke with taro chips!
I enjoyed my Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi…
With some Hawaiian fried rice (the best thing on the menu!)….
And some pork belly!
To finish up the meal, how can you say no to a molten cake?
Yum!!! Just look at that gooey goodness!
