Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this Thursday?? It will be our first Thanksgiving with our little guy and we are so excited to share this with him & with our family. He makes answering the question, “What are you thankful for?” an easy one to answer! In honor of this first Thanksgiving as our little family, I am sharing our Thanksgiving meal plan, with links to our recipes & our meal planning strategies! I’d love to hear from you guys in the comments. What are your meal planning strategies to make your Thanksgiving a smooth one?

Menu Plan:

Turkey Р5 Tips for a Perfectly Roasted Turkey

I refuse to make this ahead of time. To me, the house needs to smell like roasted chicken!

We have definitely opted to use this jarred gravy as a way of making this huge meal day easier. As embarrassing as it is for a food blogger to admit it, I kind of love the jarred kind! If you do opt to go the homemade route, I recommend keeping your gravy recipe simple!

Southern Dressing – literally my favorite part of the meal

Sweet Potato Casserole (with marshmallows)

This takes about 20 minutes to make. Assemble in the morning so that the flavors can meld together, then when you take the turkey out of the oven to rest, pop this dish in (alongside the dressing), and cook until the marshmallows are nice & golden!

Sweet Potato Souffle (with pecans)

Make this the day before!

Corn Pudding

DEFINITELY make this the day before! Especially if you are going to double the recipe. This is a fickle dish that I have almost kicked off the Thanksgiving menu many times, because we have ended up having to wait on it to set in the oven long after it was supposed to be done! That being said, its so yummy & such a tradition that due to popular demand, it stays on the menu each year!

Cranberry Sauce

Make this the day before. The jello needs time to set & I actually seem to like it better the next day!

Roasted Cranberry Brussel Sprouts

These need to be made at the very last minute. I cannot stand reheated brussel sprouts. They get soggy. I need them to be nice & crispy!

Mashed Potatoes

Peas – I put them on my mashed potatoes. Weird or normal?

These take under 10 minutes to make so they are okay to make at the last minute!

I like to prep my desserts in the morning while I watch the parade, then set them aside until after dinner. Everyone is always too full to eat dessert right away anyways so this keeps the oven free.

Apple Pie

Pecan Pie

Fruit Cocktail Cake

Pumpkin Spice Caramels
