The Dickens Christmas Fair is an annual tradition here in San Francisco.  Its aisles and aisles of Victorian style shops and streets filled with characters from the mind Charles Dickens. If you missed Monday’s post you can find more photos of the Dickens Fair here.

As you wander around watching the scenes unfold around you, take the time to stop by one of the several pubs. You can take the drink with you shopping or snag a seat for one of the many shows. I’ve tried the snake bite and the mead but to me, the best drink to get is the hot buttered rum! All of the spices make it smell like Christmas in a cup and the butter gives it a smooth texture. Try making it at home!

1 Tablespoon of butter

1 Tablespoon of brown sugar

Dash of ground cinnamon

Dash of ground nutmeg

Dash of ground cloves

2 shots of spiced rum

2 shots of water

Combine all ingredients & bring to a boil. Serve in an Irish coffee glass with whipped cream.

Tip: Adjust the amount of water that you add to get the flavor that you like. I prefer less liquid but more flavor, but you can add another shot of water if you prefer!
