Our drive down Carmel’s 17 Mile Drive took us from Monterrey, right into the adorable little city, aptly named Carmel by the Sea. When you arrive, snag a parking spot because the best way to see this city is by foot! Carmel by the Sea is one of the most quaint towns I’ve ever visited. It literally oozes charm. There are loads of adorable little alleyways just begging you to peek down. The shops range from high end jewelry & clothing, to elegant art galleries, to quirky gift shops. On ever corner you can find little restaurants with scrumptious looking menus. Keep in mind that these restaurants are tiny & Carmel is a very popular spot. We made the mistake of thinking that we could walk around Carmel first, then settle into a restaurant, only to find that by the time our bellies were rumbling, every restaurant had an hour long wait! If you’re here for lunch, put your name in first THEN walk around to work up an appetite!
Some alleyways are crowded with people & loaded with shops…
Others are more for taking a quiet meander.
Carmel is full of adorable little shops. As we continued down the main street, I caught a glimpse of the White Rabbit! Let’s follow him & see if we end up like Alice in Wonderland!
He seems to have skipped upstairs!
Right next door is the cutest little pink building! I desperately wanted to settle in for a tea party in the adorable spot. Alas, the Tea Rose simply sells tea sets & does not offer a tea service. Its still such a cute building, you can’t miss it!
We wrapped up our visit to Carmel by the Sea with a yummy meal at A.W. Shucks. I may have been drawn in simply by the clever name, but the food was delicious. We had some yummy Oysters Rockafeller and clam chowder!
