Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful celebration to bring in the new year. Let’s talk about starting the new year off on the right foot. To me life is all about balance. I am the first one to dig into a bowl of hush puppies when I’m on vacation or nibble on cookies all day on Christmas as long as its limited to certain special occasions. As the Londoner calls it, live the anti diet life full of balance. Now is the perfect time to reset and detox. This detox tea is from Jillian Michaels and is my go to after I feel like I’ve overindulged. (Hello holiday cookies…I’m talking about you!) It’s super simple recipe to follow. Boil a big pot of distilled water, dandelion tea, sugar free cranberry juice, and lemon juice in the morning and sip on it all day. It’s all super natural and good for you. Drink this every day for a whole week. This detox tea is an incredible way to lose water weight and feel better!
January is the best time to do this because how great is a hot mug of tea on a blustery day?
I found this incredible shirt with a mantra that totally fit me. 2016 is going to be a great year!
Goals for the 2016 New Year:
I’m incorporating some incredible, healthy smoothies for breakfast this year and remembering to get cracking on making some of my long time family favorites.
In October I started a new job. It was a big step up for my career. I’m looking forward to learning and growing in my new position. Also, I will be getting active every single day. That’s right, I said it. My goal is to work hard at moving every day…run, walk, dance, lift, spin, make sure to do something.
This year I am making a commitment to love the people in my life consciously and with intent. Scheduling time in my calendar to regularly talk to far away family, responding to texts and e-mails right away, finding little ways to be thankful, and volunteering every month.
We’re all booked for a big trip and as many weekend getaways as possible. I get so energized from visiting new places, trying new foods, and exploring other cultures. I’m introducing a new travel component called Wanderlust Wednesdays to Sweet Tea Sweetie. I’ll still be featuring great California and Southern inspired recipes on Mondays and Fridays, but tune in on Wednesdays if you want a peek at some amazing places!
