Alright, we are four weeks into the New Year. How’s everyone doing with their New Year’s Resolutions so far? This is typically the time when the gyms start to settle back into their usual routines & you the new year rush fades away. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I am trying to incorporate a healthy breakfast into my day so that I stay full longer & start the day off on the right foot. This is my sneaky way of getting more veggies into my day. I shared my Antioxidant Smoothie that’s full of fiber, strawberries, blueberries, and kale. Last year I shared the gorgeous Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie Bowls topped with . I also shared a Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie. I’m noticing a strawberry trend here! While strawberries are delicious & so good for you, today I am breaking out of that comfort zone with a super healthy green smoothie! This Banana Pineapple Spinach Green Smoothie packs a healthy punch & is super sweet from the pineapple!
My three components of a successful breakfast are protein, plant fiber, & dairy. I usually add in some fruit too because I like something sweet in the morning. By getting some plants into my breakfast, I feel ahead of the game for the rest of the day. The protein & fiber keep you full until lunch.
Similar to my other smoothies, to make your smoothie, combine yogurt, water, protein powder, fruit and some sort of fiber to your blender. I used bran cereal here, but you could also the Skinny Confidential’s Supermodel Skinny Bites instead. Its a mixture of bee pollen, chia, hemp hearts, and flaxseed. It’s important to remember to put the wet ingredients in first, then build to the thicker ingredients. That will allow your blender to run at it’s best and will minimize the chance of remaining chunks. Blend for 1 minute or use your smoothie presetting.
The final touch on making the smoothie is to layer it in a bowl or glass for an added crunch! Start by pouring in some smoothie, then sprinkle some high fiber cereal or a spoonful of Skinny Confidential’s Supermodel Skinny Bites, then add some sliced bananas, and repeat! Continue to layer until you reach the top of the bowl. This layering effect give a nice texture to it that makes it feel like more of a meal than just a drink.
